Back where I'm from, I was personally mentored by one of the best surgeons in the Kingdom of Rondon, who was a baron no less. Eventually, I also ended up serving as a combat medic for a war that just recently ended. As a result, I can't say I've had a lot of time exploring much in the way of hobbies, but I'll be glad to explore that kind of thing with people here. It's certainly much calmer by comparison.
Difficult to say as we adjust to life in this resort, but right now I'm just interested in getting to know everyone else here and assuring we all have a pleasant time. I assure you, I'd like to see to it you have one.
I used to work as a butler, so I have experiencing in mixing some pretty decent cocktails.
As much as I would love make people here a drink, I'd also enjoy showing how good I am with my hands. And, well, everything else, for the record.
Not much for books honestly; they put me to sleep better than any sedative. But I do like jazz and swing music, mystery films, and I favor beef wellingtons.
I consider myself a flexible man, but I like someone with a quick wit.

What a showoff. [It's said fondly.] Where to, then?
no subject
But no complaints, huh. [ he teases. ] …Dunno. Where do you want to go?
[ and then he clears his throat. ]
Your… knight is at your command. Or something like that.
no subject
My knight, huh. [Cute. A bit romantic, in a way. Didn't he fantasize about something like that when he was younger?]
I have an idea. Take me to one of the stores; I can grab some things and fix us both a drink.
[It helped keep him steady in Prehevil when they would regroup in that little club.]
no subject
[ daan’s weight is pleasant against him. he wishes they were in bed, nestled together. normal thoughts to have about a friend. ]
…Alright. [ and then while meeting his gaze— ] And you want me to carry you the whole time, huh?
[ it’s fine. let daan get a little spoiled. ]
no subject
[Well. Now he's definitely blushing, awesome.]
...If that's okay.
no subject
Guess we’ll be off.
[ and he does in fact leave, with daan in tow. he’s silent for the ride, focusing on the weight in his arms, savoring the warmth. the stores blend together with such ease; he can only vaguely pick apart somewhere that sells alcohol.
when he enters, daan is still in his arms. passerbys give them fleeting looks before resigning to accept it. ]
What did you want to get? [ a beat. ] My body’s different, so… get somethin’ strong for me.
no subject
Honestly, he doesn't so much care about what others might witness, so he ignores them and is just going to try to be content in Cloud's arms.
Right anyway. Store.]
Hm, a small list of things I want to try making for you. So it sounds like we're gonna need plenty of whiskey at least.
[But Daan has something in mind, and he's honestly looking forward to putting these together. While being a doctor is useful, he does derive more enjoyment out of something like this. It's remarkably good at destressing him.
And thus: their shopping trip ends with Daan holding a bag full of obtained goodies, primarily of various liquors but with some various fruits as well that he normally doesn't stock up on (because he ain't no Henryk and never really learned how to cook)]
Shall we?
no subject
[ he never did get particularly involved with 7th Heaven — he regrets that. cloud pays no mind to stray looks, merely doing what daan asks of him, content to satisfy him accordingly and be on their merry way.
he retraces the steps back to daan’s suite; he knows them surprisingly well. once they’ve both entered, cloud sets him down gently, with all of the grace of a knight. truly uncharacteristic. ]
Where do you want me?
no subject
Anywhere that's comfortable. There are chairs. I'm just going to get to mixing.
Mind you, I am taking your word for it and I'm making some exceptionally strong drinks.
[Anyway. He goes to the little table he has in the room, starting to arrange the bottles and other ingredients he's obtained. Rolling up his sleeves, Daan automatically seems comfortable this way, popping open new bottles.]
I'm starting you off with what's called the Sun Crush. Just a hint of sugar, and we'll see where we go from there.
[A slice of lemon and a slice of orange settle into an old fashioned looking glass along with a bit of ice. Into the mixer, he puts together some lemon and orange juice along with sugar and whiskey. Some vigorous shaking, and he pours the contents into the glass, giving it a pleasant orange hue from the juices contained.
Daan passes the glass to Cloud.]
Give it a go.
no subject
that would be inappropriate, yup. time to sit here, rocking back patiently onto his heels, the chair creaking as he watches. and then he passes a glass to cloud, and much like a curious dog, he gives it a sniff first— wow, there was a lot of alcohol content in that. ]
Cheers, doc.
[ and then he downs the entire thing. like a freak. the glass comes down. i’m going to pretend like his alcohol tolerance is significantly lower here. ]
Gimme another.
[ he liked it. that goes unsaid. ]
no subject
Huh, look at you go. You weren't kidding.
[Daan takes the glass to reuse, giving it a thorough rinse.] We'll try another one for you. The God Father. It's simple, but it's still strong for you.
[Less juice involved and more of a straightforward mix, but it still takes a bit of a balance. Instead of shaking the Amaretto and whiskey together, he pairs the both into the glass with ice before giving it a thorough stir.]
And there you go. [The glass is offered once more.]
no subject
[ he doesn’t actually know why. when he searches his subconscious for the answer, his mind contorts painfully, so he tries to not broach it.
he accepts the next glass. downs this one whole too. ]
…You’re good at this. [ he remarks, licking at his lower lip curiously. ] Should run a bar like you wanted to. People would show up just to talk to you.
[ people like him. ]
I’ll take another, bartender.
no subject
[There could be a number of reasons, but Daan won't pry if it's not something Cloud is prepared mentally for.
...Now's probably not the time, but he does look at Cloud, the way that tongue moves over his lip. Cloud's a beautiful man, just like he's also charmingly awkward in a lot of ways, earnest, and so damned stubborn.]
Well, I can at least think of a person or two who would.
[It would be nice to do that, he thinks. Much nicer than running a clinic. Much nicer than his cruel future will promise under the thumb of that wicked cat.]
We're gonna do something a little different. This is going to be a Chocolate Cake shooter. [He takes a shot glass, coating the rim with sugar. With a wedge of lemon, he does similarly, coating it with sugar. Into the glass goes some vodka and hazelnut liqueur, which he stirs briefly.]
Bite into this lemon. Keep the lemon juice in your mouth, then take the shot. Your tastebuds might not react the way most people's do, but... worth a try. Most people end up tasting something close to chocolate cake.
no subject
…Maybe someday. I get the feeling that… [ his eyes flicker down. ] It’s because I wasn’t eating. I… can’t remember that part of my life… but you could call it a hunch.
[ it’s a step up. from lying. from creating some pure fucking delusion as to what he was doing in that time. his subconscious does not want to lie to him. why, why, why? ]
Yeah, well… [ he feels his cheeks warming at being called out like this. ] Your other patron’ll have competition.
[ for his attention? in a drinking contest? he doesn’t say.
but he listens to that next part obediently, nodding his head slightly in affirmation. alright. bite into the lemon. he can do that. his teeth sink into the pulp, and the brightness of the lemon juice trickles into his mouth; he puckers his lips slightly. huh. and his cheeks puff as he holds onto the liquid, taking the shot…
his face lights up. ]
I, [ a beat. ] I can taste it..!
[ there’s earnest excitement there, reminiscent of that of a teenage boy’s. a remnant of who he was, long before anything had happened, when he was still eager and innocent and rife with enthusiasm.
the alcohol is setting in now, too. the world is skewed, hazy, a little more colorful, but in a good way. ]
Hey, doc. [ he calls out, clearly more cheerful than usual. ] Take the next shot. For me.
no subject
[Very cute, seeing that blush on his face. But even better is seeing the way Cloud's eyes bright up, excited that he can taste the drink he's been served.
It makes Daan smile warmly at him, quietly pleased. As if for once he's actually managed to do one thing right. And it doesn't hurt to hear that more cheerful tone in Cloud's voice.]
That, I can do. I'll make one of my favorites. An old-fashioned.
[Easy enough to do, and something he's made numerous times. Just the right balance of a hint of sugar to go with the burn of alcohol.
He usually prefers to savor it, but... well, fuck it. For Cloud, he does easily down the drink before sighing after he's done.]
Hm. [Daan's smile is a bit more crooked down, pleased, a bit of color in his face now. It's not hard to do considering how pale he is, but still. It's there.]
no subject
[ it’s a tease. it’s weird — the concept of talking to someone about his problems. the last time he did that was with… ]
Yeah. I’ll… see. [ his head dips, eyes roving away. ] This is… new for me.
[ all of this is. forming a relationship with someone out of genuine desire as opposed to proximity or necessity. whether it was a friendship or something more (it is most definitely not simply a friendship, but he can’t imagine daan feeling anything else for him—), it was his choice in the end.
and that smile. maybe it’s the alcohol but — his chest flutters like the wings of a butterfly, cheeks reddening at the sight of it. ]
Yeah, [ a beat. ] you… do that.
[ he watches his face color. cloud rests his head against his palm, observing fondly, the world tilting like a teapot pouring over. ]
Another one. For both of us.
[ “let’s get shitfaced, spikes!” ]
no subject
[It really does make him feel like he's done something right finally by achieving that. With a cocktail no less.]
Another one, he says.
All right. But you have to share with me. If you aren't opposed?
[Daan has something specific in mind, but... well. If Cloud doesn't want anymore, then he won't push for that.]
no subject
[ he's curious -- and in remarkably high spirits. no wonder people got addicted to this feeling. he is painfully white, so the paleness of his face colors in contrast. ]
Let's see what the jack of all trades has got in store for us.
no subject
[His tone is wry, but he sets to mixing a traditional dry martini into his glass. It feels like a bartending sin to make it into a shot, but them's the brakes. Daan holds it up, swishing the green liquid as he approaches Cloud.
Daan has a sip. There's a pause, then he takes a more generous mouthful. With a free hand, he gently takes Cloud by the jawline, leaning in to kiss him. If he opens his mouth, Daan patiently shares the martini this way through the kiss.]
no subject
the sharp, dry taste of the martini trickles into his mouth; there’s a sound of surprise but he swallows it obediently, and when he pulls away, he is… clearly worked up by it. or maybe it’s the alcohol. oops.
after a moment of silence. ]
Wow. [ enlightening comment. his head is spinning and he’s not sure if it’s from the kiss or the fact that he’s tipsy for the first time in approximately 7 years. ] You’re… wow.
[ a pronounced quiet. ]
You, uh… mind if we do that again?
no subject
Not at all. There's still some left.
[That's the kind of reaction he'd been hoping for. Maybe he's getting a bit carried away, wanting to be so deeply affectionate after their unusual outing and how sweetly Cloud has treated him -- but he's been invited for more.
So more, he gives.
Daan tops off the rest of the contents of his glass, then cups Cloud's cheek as he leans in to share the rest of the martini, humming against his mouth.]
no subject
but that's the joy of superhumanity, it spares you the embarrassment. cloud breathes into his mouth before that breath stutters and builds up into a soft moan, and he wants to slap himself for how obvious he's being.
yeah, he is... undoubtedly trapped in horny jail right now. ]
...Not fair. [ he admits, wearing a small pout. ] I'm getting you back for this.
[ the alcohol makes him braver than he should be. so his fingers find the collar of daan's shirt, and he pulls him in, drawing him into a stupidly sloppy but impassioned kiss. smooth. very smooth. and then his index finger pokes at daan's chest, accusing and pointed-- ]
Not so fun now, is it.
no subject
As Cloud leaves his remark, Daan is wearing a sharp smile. He reaches down to carefully take Cloud's wrist, bringing that index finger up to give it a hard nip with his canine.]
On the contrary. I think it's a lot of fun.
[He leans in, pressing his knee down against the chair just to the side of Cloud's hip.]
Are you not having fun?
[It's unspoken, but if it's too much, well. He wouldn't fault Cloud if he needed Daan to back off.]
no subject
Yeah. [ he answers, in the stupidest, bluntest voice imaginable. ] I've had dreams about this before.
[ why did he just admit that aloud. his stupid wet dream curse-- ]
I mean. [ fuck. how does he take that back. he can't. ] It's like. You know.
[ "just be honest, spikes! you can always blame it on the alcohol later." ]
It'd be hard to not dream about you.
no subject
[That blush in his ears is also pretty damned adorable. Daan gets closer, settling his weight into Cloud's lap. Of course he's turned on; how couldn't he be? In his whole life, Daan can't remember a single person that's treated him the way Cloud does. Certainly, he daydreamed of the kind of person, but they didn't exist.
Well, not until now.
Daan murmurs into his ear.] We can make that dream of yours come true. What happens next?
