Back where I'm from, I was personally mentored by one of the best surgeons in the Kingdom of Rondon, who was a baron no less. Eventually, I also ended up serving as a combat medic for a war that just recently ended. As a result, I can't say I've had a lot of time exploring much in the way of hobbies, but I'll be glad to explore that kind of thing with people here. It's certainly much calmer by comparison.
Difficult to say as we adjust to life in this resort, but right now I'm just interested in getting to know everyone else here and assuring we all have a pleasant time. I assure you, I'd like to see to it you have one.
I used to work as a butler, so I have experiencing in mixing some pretty decent cocktails.
As much as I would love make people here a drink, I'd also enjoy showing how good I am with my hands. And, well, everything else, for the record.
Not much for books honestly; they put me to sleep better than any sedative. But I do like jazz and swing music, mystery films, and I favor beef wellingtons.
I consider myself a flexible man, but I like someone with a quick wit.

[ it's clear he isn't actually bothered -- there's playful kind of airiness to his voice, a levity even. it's...adorable, really.
cloud leans in again-- this time, he presses a kiss to daan's lips, even if that isn't exactly sanitary at the moment. ]

[He says it wryly, then brushes his fingers over the side of Cloud's face.]

Although Daan had already thoroughly showered last night, he still takes some time to fuss over himself and preen. Getting fully dressed seems like a pointless endeavor, but he still at least puts on a button up shirt and a pair of trousers.
When Cloud returns, his ears perk up and swivel, twitching. Daan will not miss the rabbit ears, but it's clear that he's glad to have him return.]
Thank you. ...I know you'll probably say something like "it's no big deal" or something, but... it's. Nice. Being treated this way.
[And letting Cloud do it, moreover. Being cared for. It makes him certainly realize how little of it he's ever received in his life.]

[It's hard to really phrase how much it means to him, even if he's certain Cloud understands. Daan has spent his life in servitude or having little control over his own choices. Even... even Elise, she didn't do anything like this, did she? It makes his heart ache, those questions he's trying to avoid in his mind.]
Well. It's a good variety of options. [He takes the coffee and takes a small bite of toast.] I suppose I'll give this place one thing and it's their questionable supply of fresh food.

[ he’s curious. maybe he shouldn’t be. cloud takes a pronounced bite out of a bagel, sipping his coffee in an attempt to wash it down. he finishes it off relatively quickly, not thinking too hard about it. ]

[Saying it out loud just makes it that much more real to him, coldly and cruelly. There's a comfort in it from receiving it from Cloud, but there's also that boundary he dares not cross for a multitude of reasons.]
Mm. Same for me. One would be lucky to stomach food rations, and even after that... it was hard to come by food in Prehevil when I was there with Marina.
Imagine my surprise and subsequent irritation when we found food here.

Wherever you came from sounds like a dump -- Marina mentioned a few things to me. [ another sip of his coffee. ] ...Prehevil where you were born, or?

[There's a pause, then Daan shakes his head.] I don't really know where I was born, to be honest. But no, I just had some business to do in Prehevil. Unfortunately, that's where Marina and I ended up stuck for a few days. Us, and a bunch of other people.
...We ended up seeing a lot of heinous shit. All of us.

[Welp. All right. Then there's that topic, which is arguably worse, but Daan isn't interested in keeping many secrets from Cloud.]
...My wife. [Daan tilts his head, scowling.] When I found her and my father-in-law, they were both death, next to a ritual symbol I didn't recognize. I looked at the notes the baron left behind and it mentioned a town named Prehevil.
So, I was hoping that if I went there, I'd find answers. Understand what the ritual was for, why... [Daan sighs and puts down his coffee.] I just ended up with more questions, though.
