Back where I'm from, I was personally mentored by one of the best surgeons in the Kingdom of Rondon, who was a baron no less. Eventually, I also ended up serving as a combat medic for a war that just recently ended. As a result, I can't say I've had a lot of time exploring much in the way of hobbies, but I'll be glad to explore that kind of thing with people here. It's certainly much calmer by comparison.
Difficult to say as we adjust to life in this resort, but right now I'm just interested in getting to know everyone else here and assuring we all have a pleasant time. I assure you, I'd like to see to it you have one.
I used to work as a butler, so I have experiencing in mixing some pretty decent cocktails.
As much as I would love make people here a drink, I'd also enjoy showing how good I am with my hands. And, well, everything else, for the record.
Not much for books honestly; they put me to sleep better than any sedative. But I do like jazz and swing music, mystery films, and I favor beef wellingtons.
I consider myself a flexible man, but I like someone with a quick wit.

[ the flowers, he means. they’re mostly comprised of tulips, orchids, carnations… not something so gaudy as a red rose. yet. and so they’re gestured towards him in silence.
cloud isn’t a complete idiot; he realizes by now that this is a date. ]
How’ve you been doing?
no subject
[But it is touching, and Daan carefully takes the flowers from Cloud. It makes him think of the flower from before, the one he kept and pressed, even if he hasn't shared that. Maybe he'll have to press one of each from this assembly of flowers?
Maybe he can ask Aerith how to make sure to keep these alive for awhile, too.]
Not too bad, surprisingly. Mostly just feel a bit of pity for a bunch of the newer people. [Daan doesn't have much for the poor bouquet at the moment, so until he gets a proper vase they're going into a... coffee cup with water.]
What about you? [There are questions Daan wants to ask, but-- well. This is a date, and he's intending on keeping it light today.]
no subject
and then daan asks that question, as loaded as ever… cloud reaches up to rub at the back of his own head. ]
…’M fine. [ it’s a half truth. ] …Zack’s here. And Aerith is too, although I haven’t seen her yet…
It’s… weird, I guess. [ that’s one word for it. ] It… still hurts. For both of us. But I…
I still… want to try. Even if it’s hard.
no subject
You can do it. You're a stubborn bastard, after all. And Zack... he seems like a nice guy. I think he'll be patient.
Still, don't rush yourself, and know that I'm here if you need me. You're no burden.
no subject
mission failed. his fingers curl around daan's, squeezing. ]
I... I'm realizing that I--
I heard his voice in my head... this whole time. And I--
[ he stops himself, the pain pulsing through his head. ]
I-- I really am crazy, aren't I...?
[ no. he wouldn't do this now. cloud shakes his head in wide sweeps. ]
...Sorry. I'm not gonna ruin this for us.
no subject
[though, yeah, hearing a voice of your dead bestie is kind of whack
Daan gently squeezes Cloud's hand.]
...There are a lot of things a person will do to ensure their own survival. To cope with loss and trauma. We're both different kinds of fucked up, and sadly I'm not the kind of doctor that can help much with that.
But those things are not the only aspects that define you. Just as my grief is not my only defining part.
no subject
...Just don't wanna keep makin' you deal with this...
[ but he's not wrong -- their relationship was... give and take, an equal exchange now. he should know better. ]
...Alright. [ he acquiesces at long last. and then wordlessly, he leans in to press a chaste kiss to daan's lips. ]
Thanks.
no subject
[The kiss is sweet and brief, the kind that he likes most. It leaves a soft expression on Daan's face, his gaze fond.]
Anytime, Cloud.
Now then. To our outing?
no subject
definitely not a relationship, no siree.
and then like a total asshole: ]
...You think your neighbors remember that you got plowed out here?
[ well. it's an important question. ]
no subject
Then, that question. The audacity.]
Well, I imagine it was a little hard to forget, don't you?
[Daan reaches up and pinches Cloud's shoulder.]
no subject
Then I got my point across. [ you know, that daan’s his, obviously. ] Didn’t hear you complaining about it.
no subject
Daan huffs softly, a blush crawling onto his face. It wasn't the sex that was embarrassing, but the whole aspect of it being Cloud, of it being summarily about being his -- those things do fluster him.
It isn't a bad thing, though. Frankly, Daan is still a little surprised that he can be embarrassed about anything.]
I'm not going to complain, but you're also being a smug bastard, aren't you.
[it aint a question]
no subject
and then he pulls daan in, hands wringing tightly at the small of his back so he can kiss him, slow and tender and deep. he parts just to look him squarely in the eye— ]
I like seeing you get embarrassed.
no subject
Then he has to say something about it.
Daan leans in, lightly nipping his lower lip.]
Good for you, asshole. I'm sure you're having a great time.
no subject
And you aren’t?
[ his lips slot against his, the palms of his hands skating up his back, drawing him in closer — until their bodies are flush, heat seeping through their clothing. the kiss is long and drawn out and he feels his cheeks warming. this wasn’t the point of this. they were supposed to be on a date, not making out in a hallway, but you know… it happens. ]
no subject
But also, he does want this date as well.
A hand comes up and grips Cloud by the chin and jaw, giving him a final, firm lick to his lower lip.]
Let's at least try to get to the arcade. But... more of that later, yes?
no subject
...Alright. [ he resigns. ] Just stay close to me, yeah?
no subject
Don't pout. [Daan teases, his tone warm.] But yes, I'll stay close. Wouldn't want to stray far anyway.
no subject
[ he is definitely pouting. still, his mouth quirks up into the faintest flicker of a smile as daan leans into him. relish the slight while you can; it's not a common one. ]
...You can always ask for my company, you know.
no subject
[Now Daan looks a bit bashful, then gives a helpless shrug.]
...I didn't want to come off as-- [what Elise would say] --clingy.
no subject
You wouldn't.
[ he has to wonder who taught him to think like this -- there's a part of his mind that already knows, but...
best to shrug the thought off. ]
I missed you too.
no subject
[A faint blush forms on his pale face, then he turns is head to kiss Cloud's cheek gently.]
Then... I'll make sure to tell you.
no subject
Good. [ is all he says. more importantly, the gaudy, technicolor entrance of the arcade springs into sight; it's all flashing lights and electronica. this place really was a glorified honeybee inn, wasn't it? ]
Looks like we're here. [ a nod of the head. ] Anything catch your eye?
no subject
Then, they arrive at the arcade, which is frankly a lot of visual noise for a guy from the 1940s. Daan hesitates, then squeezes Cloud's hand tightly, grounding himself.]
Well... I've never been to one of these. What sort of game do you think you'd be skilled at?
no subject
and he’s intimidated by an arcade. ]
I dunno. Could go for the dance machine… you said you were good at dancing, right?
[ he may or may have not read what he said to J that one time. ]
Skee ball would be easier though. [ he gestures to the machine, its rings glowing a vicious red. ] Just gotta toss the ball in.
