My Self-Summary

Back where I'm from, I was personally mentored by one of the best surgeons in the Kingdom of Rondon, who was a baron no less. Eventually, I also ended up serving as a combat medic for a war that just recently ended. As a result, I can't say I've had a lot of time exploring much in the way of hobbies, but I'll be glad to explore that kind of thing with people here. It's certainly much calmer by comparison.
My Future Plans

Difficult to say as we adjust to life in this resort, but right now I'm just interested in getting to know everyone else here and assuring we all have a pleasant time. I assure you, I'd like to see to it you have one.
My Talents

I used to work as a butler, so I have experiencing in mixing some pretty decent cocktails.

As much as I would love make people here a drink, I'd also enjoy showing how good I am with my hands. And, well, everything else, for the record.

Not much for books honestly; they put me to sleep better than any sedative. But I do like jazz and swing music, mystery films, and I favor beef wellingtons.

[And he remembers Cloud's initial reaction to when Daan mentioned he was a doctor. A fear of doctors is not that unusual; being vulnerable to another person with blades and needles can easily cause that kind of discomfort and fear.

Daan would hate to make that worse for him.]

Thank you. ...I will, but right now, I just want to think about being here with you. [Selfish. So damned selfish, but it's so nice.]

Uh. [ he has to think about that for a second — he trusts daan more than he should, but the skittishness comes back to him, wracking his nerves a bit. ] So long as you don’t cut me open.

[ being vivisected like a dying butterfly terrified him to his core. he doesn’t know why — but it’s in the back of his mind, always, shaking him ever so slightly.

his hand curls around daan’s waist. ]

[ was there anything nice about being with him? it had never occurred to him. ]

You’re… warm. [ the words come out softly, and he’s slow to speak. ] It’s nice.

[A hand raises, gently cupping the side of Cloud's face.] I'd never. [And that is a big promise from a guy who has harvested organs in Prehevil for the sake of medical survival, but genuinely alive or dead he wouldn't dare. Like it or not, Cloud is becoming dear to his heart. Even if one day Cloud rejects him, that will not change.] The most I would do is maybe draw a bit of blood with a needle and do a physical. Nothing more invasive than that, you have my word.

[Daan is a lot of things, but he does try to keep his promises.]

Mm, not as warm as you are. Like this, I feel ... less tense, I think.

[Elise would like her space. The few times they shared a bed, she'd keep to her side. Would call him clingy if he asked to hold her, or be held. It's fine, he would respect her needs. She would go to him if she decided she desired anything, and he would be ready.]

[ that does soothe his nerves, whether he’d be keen to admit or not. he stiffens at first before relaxing into his touch, nerves dissolving gradually. ]

…Alright. [ daan trusted him something terribly sensitive — it would only be right if cloud did the same. ] I… [ he can’t bring himself to say the word “trust”, but… ] don’t think you’ll hurt me. You’re a good doctor. I can tell.

[ and a good person. a good friend. a good something-more. ]

…I always thought I was cold. [ in both spirit and body. he pulls daan in closer. ] Your heart’s beating real fast, doc.

...I would do my best to not hurt you, Cloud.

[Even if it might be inevitable. But physically, he would do his best as a doctor. Take care of him. Daan is new to being anyone's friend, anyone's... anything that is good, besides becoming Elise's husband, but even then he failed that.

Daan rests his cheek against Cloud's shoulder.]

Not to me, you aren't. [There's a soft breath, almost a laugh.] Well, maybe you just have that effect on me.

I know, Daan.

[ there’s vulnerability there. a real soft candor, a side of himself that he doesn’t usually show. cloud lets his head droop, nestling it against daan’s. ]

Yeah, well… [ he isn’t smiling physically, but it’s in his voice. ] That makes two of us.

[ for once, he feels himself drifting off — not out of necessity, but comfort. ]

…Hey. Daan. [ he finally speaks up again. ]

Thanks for being honest.

[ about… everything. ]

[What trust. What faith in Daan. Even the gratitude for him being honest feels wrong, because Daan has not been forthcoming on everything. Another time, Daan will bring more matters up.

Maybe that'll paint a clearer picture of the kind of person Daan is to Cloud.]

[It's more honest than he's been with most people.]

[ there's a stretch of quiet that fills the air after he says that. cloud sees more of himself in him than he should.

his eyes drift to the ceiling, fixated on the expanse of white. ]

Yeah. [ he remarks after a long while. ] Me too.

[ that did, indeed, make two of them. ]

[There's a slow close of his eye, his body pressed against the warmth of Cloud's. Daan exhales slowly, letting himself hold on.]

...Thank you. For staying.

[ unexpectedly, shocking even himself, his arms wind around him. he latches onto that warmth -- desperate for something he had lost for so long. ]

Anytime. [ he mutters before oblivion takes him, that same warmth blanketing him in the dark. ]
